Pau , La vie révée des villes , Bollocks !

The association " Couleurs Locales " publishes in English a cultural datebook since 2005 in order to make easier the integration of anglophone people in the regional artistic scene .
LIFE64 is distributed free of charge in the whole département for the benefit of towns , shops and others cultural associations . The voluntary members of the association strive to find sponsors so as to pay for printing fees and to perpepuate the publication .
When , for the third time , the association meets with one more refusal concerning a request for subvention in Pau town council , I solicit an encounter from Mss Ligniéres-Cassou , the mayor of Pau . I finally obtain an appointment with one of her councillors . Not only he was late , but he didn't even know why I was there . So , I remind him that our approach is based on the need for integration of these english people , who arrive for the first time in France . Because he adviced me to adress one more time my request next year , I precised him that he was doing nothing but repeating the same discourse that his predecessors had told me . I announce him that , because of a lock of money , the publication could come to an end . He glances through Life64 , and quickly affirms that : " Anyway , that's a very good idea , it's pretty well done , so if you go bankrupt , then we will take back the concept " On those words , he asked us to leave .
The person who had accompanied me was stupefied , she told me while we were walking out the place :
" He treats us like stupid people or he is naive ? " I affirm , he is maybe naive to admit it to us , but anyway he's treating us like idiots .
If in certain countries we buy your ideas , in other ones we announce that we are going to steal them . Maybe , in the future , we will see the publication of an english magazine , dedicated to regional culture and intended to english native speakers , and very similar to Life64 .
When people talk about setting up new initiatives , is it in order to help them or to plunder them ? What a respectuous attitude facing people who extended and broadcast culture ...
